Designing the Future of Working
We recently sat down with Venaspace Operations Director Becca Clancy, to touch base on the creation of our exclusive members only basement at The Mount, Exeter. What exciting tidbits did we find out?
It’s been a very exciting year so far at The Mount with month’s worth of planning starting to come to fruition in our basement.
In the week leading up to Christmas, the builders moved in and work started transforming our basement into the future of working in Exeter. A space to act as a community hub for clients in the centre, chat over a flat white or a cold beer, and for co-workers to come together to build Exeter’s next start-ups.
It Starts With a Concept
Our dreams for the basement started with a concept – making a space available to all to collaborate and an environment to inspire.
Fast forward to now, the designs have been agreed and the finishes have been chosen. From paint colours to kitchen design, I’ve certainly had my hands full in designing a space fit for purpose along with our builders and a local designer.
I’ve designed a bar which will act as the focal point for the space, made by a small manufacturer in the Pennine’s that will house the Otter Brewery keg and tap for “Free Beer Fridays”. Our bespoke co-working desk will mean that co-workers will have power, ergonomic seating, suitable lighting and when it’s time to stretch the legs, the pool table is a stone’s throw away.
With very little experience in interior design, apart from a passion, it’s been a fantastic project to work on with each element of the space carefully thought out in terms of its use.
