As the new year fast approaches, it’s time to reflect on the moments that made 2023 a year we will never forget. Join us while we unpack the last 12 months at Venaspace Offices.

Networking is a big component of our office model

The Mount, Exeter

We kicked off 2023 with a bang with our second year of quarterly Exeter Business Breakfast Meetings down The Rabbit Hole at The Mount. These quarterly networking events, hosted alongside Your Partnerships, are a fantastic opportunity for our members and the wider Exeter business community to gather and build connections.

In March, The Mount was also the venue for the second time for Vic Williams’ Exeter LinkedIn Local, where Rosie Parsons, an award-winning photographer, was the special speaker.

Wilson House, Bournemouth

We opened our rooftop terrace for the warmer months in April, and it proved an integral part of our networking scheme this year. In August, we welcome the Bournemouth business community for our first summer party on Wilson House’s rooftop terrace. Between ticket sales and the raffle, with prizes sponsored by Winederful UK, Conker Distillery, and Grounded Coffee Roasters, the event raised £358 for our charity partner, Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.

Following the success of the summer party, Winederful UK hosted an airshow rooftop party at Wilson House to experience a breathtaking panoramic view of the mesmerizing airshow while raising money for MYTIME Young Carers.

The Apex, Plymouth

Our newest business centre in Plymouth, The Apex, hosted its fair share of successful events this year. In September, to celebrate the opening of our brand new outdoor patio and the one-year anniversary of our launch event with a summer garden party. Bays Brewery sponsored the drinks, and over 50 Plymouth business members joined us for a barbecue at The Apex for a night of networking and fundraising in support of Jeremiah’s Journey.

A Year of Big Renovations at our Business Centres

The Mount, Exeter

One of our long-standing clients, Re-flow, outgrew their rooftop office, and renovations began on the 1st floor for their new custom-made workspace. In August, they moved into their new office, twice the size of their last workspace. They’ve welcomed 11 new members this year, and their team is continuing to grow and flourish in their new space. We cannot wait to see what’s in store for them in 2024.

Wilson House, Bournemouth

In July, we completed the refurbishment project at one of our oldest business centres in Bournemouth, Wilson House. Along with completing this project, we reached 100% occupancy after another long-standing client, Learn Direct, expanded. We love to watch our members grow alongside us.

The Apex, Plymouth

After reaching full occupancy on the ground floor and 1st floor at The Apex in September, renovations began on the top floor. The top floor will house two custom-built offices for two new members moving in January 2024.

Working at the Apex is unique, with breathtaking views of surrounding nature and wildlife. To showcase this location’s beauty, we started and completed two more projects to the outside of the property. This year, we installed over 100 solar panels to produce renewable and greener energy and launched our new outdoor patio.

Venaspace Exeter

We welcomed our new Exeter community manager, Laura Hasrun, in August of this year, and she has been a great addition to our community management team. We’ve also had Matty Ash join the Exeter team for his student work placement with Exeter College.

In September, we installed our brand-new Venaspace sign on the side of the building, and we couldn’t be happier with the final result. Thank you to Enigma Signs for this beautiful design.

In February, we were announced as an 2023 Exeter Living Awards finalist in the business services category for the second year. We were also honoured to be a co-working spaces finalist in the Exeter Property Awards and receive a special mention as a ‘highly commendable co-working space’ for The Rabbit Hole.

Venaspace Bournemouth

Our Bournemouth team participated for the second year in the annual Charity Volleyball Tournament hosted by MSP Capital in aid of Julia’s House Children’s Hospice and Lewis-Manning Hospice Care. This event raised over £15,000, and we were honoured to be part of this important achievement.

At our annual Christmas party alongside our sister companies, one team member is voted the Employee’s Employee of the Year, and this year, our very own Katrin Dakeva won. This award showcases her talent and dedication in the office and her commitment to Venaspace and her colleagues.

Venaspace Plymouth

This year was our best year for wildlife sightings around The Apex property. Up to 15 deer called The Apex home in 2023, and we loved catching glimpses of them grazing from our office windows.

We were also awarded Devon and Plymouth Chamber Champions for raising awareness about the benefits of joining the Chamber, both at our networking events and within our business community.
