Community Engagement at Venaspace

At Venaspace, we recognise the importance of community engagement and wellbeing in our business centres. This month our community managers have put on various events to get in the Christmas spirit, encourage networking, and support physical and mental wellbeing in the workplace.

Events at Venaspace Exeter, The Mount

Our office access cards double as membership cards that provide discounts and offers across local businesses. Our membership scheme supports local businesses, and we have partnered with independent coffee shops, chiropractors, and local photographers across Exeter. One of our partners, Salcombe Gin, offers a 15% discount on their online shop to Venaspace clients. However, on November 11th, they visited The Mount to set up a Christmas Booth in The Rabbit Hole for our members to place Christmas orders at a 20% discount with free delivery. What a great way to start the Christmas season!

Networking is at the core of our business community, and our Exeter Member’s Hub, The Rabbit Hole, is designed to meet, co-work, and breakout. On November 24th, our Exeter Community Manager, Holly, partnered with Vic Williams to host a LinkedIn Local Exeter down The Rabbit Hole. With over fifty members of the Exeter business community in attendance, we enjoyed coffee, tea, and each other’s company, as well as baked goods sponsored by Triangle Networks that Vic baked himself. The main event, however, was guest speaker Sarah Jepson, founder of Six Degrees – a female-only networking group, who gave a powerful presentation about her experience with domestic violence that got a standing ovation.

Last but not least, Rock Chiropractic Health Centre visited The Mount on November 30th to put on a free health talk for Venaspace members. Their chiropractor also provided free posture checks and a 70% discount to book an initial consultation with them at a later date. Our members learned more about how to protect their physical health in the workplace, as the office can affect posture in various ways.

Community at Venaspace Plymouth, The Apex

Our brand-new business centre in Plymouth, The Apex, hosted its first coffee morning on November 17th to support its business community. It was great to see members and non-members meet in our Plymouth member’s hub for a couple of hours of making connections, bean-to-cup coffee, and sweet treats. Our Plymouth Community Manager, Owain, is already hard at work preparing his speech for the next event at The Apex on December 6th, the quarterly 30 under 30 meeting hosted by the Devon and Plymouth Chamber.

Community is more than networking and business; it is also about creating a space where different industries can gather and enjoy each other’s company. Over eight companies at The Apex gathered on November 20th to watch England’s first football match in The World Cup. It was great to see our brand-new Nancy Astor Conference Room in use. Everyone poured themselves a cold Devon Rock from our self-serve beer tap to cheer on England.

Networking at Venaspace Bournemouth, Venator House

Bournemouth members, Social Agncy, hosted their first networking event at our member’s hub, Unit 7, at Venator House. The main event was wine tasting by Winederful UK with pairing plates by Coffee and Drift. It was great to enjoy the organic wine from the oldest winery in Calabria, Italy while meeting new and old faces. All proceeds from the ticket sales for the event went to Macmillan Cancer Support; all-in-all a great event to support.
